Fees and Discounts

Navigate: ClosedTax > Special Assessments > Setup > Fees and Discounts > Search for Special Assessment Fees and Discounts > [Select Fee or Discount] > Maintain Special Assessment Fee or Discount

Description

Edit existing special assessment fees and discounts. Fees and discounts can be charged with a special assessment, charged and bill separately from the special assessment, or can be included in the amount to amortize. The fee or discount can either be a fixed amount or a percentage of the PINs special assessment amount. Fees and discounts created as a percentage can have a minimum and/or maximum amounts.

Steps

  1. On the Search for Special Assessment Fees and Discounts screen, enter your search criteria and click Search.

  2. In the Search Results panel, click the Description hyperlink to edit an existing fee on the Maintain Special Assessment Fees and Discounts screen.

    3. OR

    Click New to create a new fee on the Add Special Assessment Fee or Discount screen.

  3. Edit any of the available fields.

  4. Click Save.

    • Click Close to end the task.
    • Click List to return to the Search for Special Assessment Fees screen.

Tips

If a Charge fee is associated with a special assessment, the special assessment may need to be re-calculated after the fee has been changed.

Click Delete to delete this special assessment fee.

Based on the Calculation type, you can enter additional information:

  • For Fixed fees, enter a Fee amount.

  • For Percentage fees, enter a Percentage. Select Minimum fee and/or enter a Maximum fee if you don't want the fee to go under or over a certain amount.

For Charge or Early Payoff fees, select the Bill as separate charge checkbox if you want the fee to appear on the bill as a separate charge from the special assessment.

Select the Deduct fee from charge checkbox if you want to subtract the fee from the special assessment amount and charge the fee separately. For example, the special assessment amount is $500 and the fee is $50. If this option is selected the special assessment amount is charged at $450 and the fee is charged at $50.
